I thought it would be a good idea to post a quick P90X Chin-Up Bar review since I get asked a lot of questions about the gear needed for this program. There are several accessories that are nice to have, but not absolutely needed. The chin-up bar on the other hand is a must-have…
In my opinion, the P90X Chin-Up Bar is one of the most brilliant pieces of fitness gear in existence. It is a fairly inexpensive piece of equipment that doesn’t take up much space, and will provide one of the best upper body workouts imaginable.
Installing the chin-up bar is super simple and it’s easily mounted to any door frame without drilling. Simply slide it into place and then rest it against the framing — no drilling is needed and it won’t damage the door frame a bit. If you want to remove it and store it in the closet or under your bed, just lift, slide, and hide.
The P90X Chin-Up Bar is professional-grade and made of heavy-gauge steel. It will hold up to 300 pounds and the handles are covered in high-quality foam for maximum comfort and grip.
Important: Before you order it, make sure that you measure the door frames in your home or apartment. The P90X Chin-Up Bar will fit doorways up to 32″ wide with a 5″ minimum width, 6.5″ maximum.

2I had one and overall I would say it was good, however, with 220 pounds on it I found that it marked up the door frame way too much. I ended up wrapping some protection around that part of the door to protect the frame, however, I still ended up giving it to a friend and getting a stand-alone pull-up station….door frame versions are very difficult to use for us tall guys (6′ 4″)

3I enjoy the chin up bar too. I was a little hesitant to use it after I installed it. There are only 2 small brackets holding it onto the wall. But the chin up bar works great and has helped to shape my back.

4what do you do if your door frame is too big for the p90x chin up bar? I ordered it a year ago, their was no mention of a restriction on the door frame, that is why I got it. I still havn’t been able to put it up. Susie
